Altitude, 'nuff said!
Oh yeah the 5280 living is taking it's toll on me now. I made my first outing on the road bike this weekend after a week of job searching and settling in. I found a great little flat spin to the quaint little town of Golden and then met up with a couple new faces at Starbucks. Oh the gathering of cyclists at java huts is inevitable.
I had my work cut out for me as we headed up to Golden Gate State Park which just so happened to be a 19 mile continuous climb. I felt fine the 1st hr, but once we were above 8,000 ft my HR kept getting lower and my eyeballs felt like they were going to sink into my skull. I definitely felt like I wanted to weave and fall off the road. I know...I sound like a pansy, but hey I am going to have to adjust slowly. Now I'm on the low intensity plan, b/c my legs feel useless and I don't feel like I'm recovering quite as well as at good ole 500 ft elevation of KY or TN.
Maybe some good news is that I interviewed for a position at a large bike shop today. I may be back into wrenching and selling before I know it. That is if the hrs and pay work out. Who knows, as I'm still unemployed. Eeeeeeek! Off for now.
