Broke bikes, more wrecks, less bikes, and less racing....
Well last post showed the sweet new HT frame.....well quick update is built it to be a super-sweet 1x9er, but the maiden voyage to Palmer Park turned into a trip to the bike graveyard. A simple dismount over the bars resulted in a broken seatstay. Yep on the 1st ride, it became the last. Now it is on the way to Calfee for a repair!

To add insult to injury, on the day I broke the new Giant, the staff Specialized Epic Carbon that I've had for the last partial year was recalled for use with a new development rider. So in the matter of 2 days, I went from having 2 mtbs....to not having any off-road pleasure.

Then to add more negatives, I raced in the Air Force Academy/Colorado College race weekend (with some Olympians, I might add...Taylor Phinney, Colby Pearce). For the crit, I ended up getting dropped after going on a 2 lap flyer with the studs and then not being able to recover. For the RR on the AFA, I lasted 5 minutes when the field hit 55 mph on the 1st descent and proceeded into the 1st corner at 50mph. Of course with CO wind coming down the mtns, the echelon swept a couple riders (including me) into the gutter of a curb. Let me tell you it is fun (in a sadistical kinda way) sliding on your back at 50mph while getting ran over by other bikes. Yippee! Now one bike that has been hammered, wheels folded in half, shifters more scarred than a HS cutter, and no more uniform.

Luckily MOB hooked me up with a new Giant Advanced frame to build up to get me back on the road. Now just to get back on the trail! Next bike...Giant TranceX. I need something to beat up on and a carbon bike is not weapon of choice.

I was supposed to go to Gila with the MOB/RMCEF crew but couldnt't get approved off work so the boys are down stage-racing in Silver City. Have fun and good luck!
