From devo to performance
Since moving from more of an administrator position from the days of directing the USAC Collegiate & High School programs in 2009, I've been working full steam as an Endurance Coach with Carmichael Training Systems. It was a tough decision, but it was a great move to work with athletes more than just managing coordinators across the greater US.
So with this I've started to have some article series and blogs being posted to various websites including other blogs, coaching pages, and team sites.
One of my first encompassed a new cyclist, Robert Jones, of Team Evergreen Racing out of Evergreen, CO. Think of the Triple Bypass ride and one of the biggest cycling clubs in the US and that's the program. We produced a periodic update on his performance from a goal setting and incremental improvement point of view.
The full "Follow Jonesy" series from 2009-10 can be read here until he took a little needed hiatus to hunt some elk, climb some steep Colorado couloirs, and doing some run pacing for the Leadville Trail 100 run. Well the series may be old, but Jonesy is back in action with me now with ambitions of hitting the Rocky Mtn brevet series, obtaining his black belt (so he can make those that yell at us in spandex think twice), and get his numbers to a respectable Category 3 road racer.
Look for more on Jonesy as we tackle these endeavors going forward.
