Training to begin....

It's not like training isn't year round, but now it is time to actually begin putting in some miles in the chill. I love this time of year believe it or not. Most people complain about riding in the cold but for some reason I'm glutton for punishment. I like being one of the sick folks out spinning in the teens for hours on end. It really makes those nice days during race season seem really easy no matter how bad I feel that day. I know if I made it through hours of numb toes, watering eyes, and the oh-so-lovely "pins and needles" from the shower when the ride is over; that I can push through the burn or suffering of any race. I must say that this x-training that I've been doing over the last couple months has been nice. It is convenient not having to bundle up and worry about checking the forcast, but now that break has me fired up to get on the bike.
Getting on the bike this winter is going to be lots of fun...even more so than previous winters. I just scored a new light system from my good friend Steve at the Wave and I'm ready to put it to use around the local trails and even to do the occasional crack-o-dawn ride to work at 5am.
Plant the seed of fitness now and reep the rewards of results in the summer!
